Robin Boyd

Architect cousin of Arthur Boyd born in Melbourne in 1919.

Educated in Melbourne, Boyd first worked on domestic design but then moved to institutional architecture.

A writer, critic and lecturer in his field, Boyd designed the Australian entries in a number of World Expositions.

In 1969 he won the Royal Institute of Australian Architects Gold Medal.

In his writing he often criticised the aesthetic quality of Australian architecture. His books include Australian Home, The Australian Ugliness and The Great Australian Dream, which was published after his death in 1971.
