Luna Park
Australia Crest

Luna Park was relocated to Milsons Point, Sydney, from Glenelg, Adelaide, and opened on October 4th, 1935.

The Park's heyday lasted well into the 50s and a slow decline led to closure in 1979. Accidents on the Big Dipper and the tragic fire on the Ghost Train on June 9th, 1979, didn't help the cause. Six children and one adult died in the blaze.

Luna Park re-opened in the 80s only to close again following complaints from people such as Harry Seidler about the noise emanating from the Big Dipper.

In 1999 Metro Edgley won the right to redevelop Luna Park. The work should be finished by 2001.
