Steve Pratt
Australia Crest

CARE Australia worker, aged 49 and who grew up in Gosford, NSW, was in April, 1999, taken by the loonies in Yugoslavia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Bosnian Serbs, ethnic Albanians - will the real Yugoslavia please stand up! It's all Greek to me and very confusing, to say the least.

Steve, who has a 14 year old son in Canberra, is a logistics expert with 23 years experience moving supplies, machinery, men and mountains as an officer in the Australian Army and later CARE.

Malcolm Fraser, ex-P.M. and now chairman of CARE Australia, flew to Moscow and then Geneva to try to obtain a visa to visit Steve and fellow Aussie CARE worker Peter Wallace who are in custody in Yugoslavia. Mr. Fraser had earlier been appointed as a special envoy to the Australian Government.

Malcolm Fraser saw Steve and Peter at the Ministry of Defence in Belgrade on Friday 23rd April. They seemed well and an early release is hoped for.
