Former Australian cricket captain born in Adelaide on 26th September, 1943.

Grandson of Test legend Victor Richardson and brother to ex-Australian captain Greg and underarm Trevor, the Chappell family could almost be called the Australian Royal Family of cricket.

'Chappell I', as he was affectionately known from the way his name was displayed on the scoreboard, captained his team to a win or draw in his 30 Tests with his superior, tactical leadership.

As a batsman, he scored 5,346 runs at an average of 42.42.

For years Ian co-hosted Wide World of Sports with Mike Gibson on television.

Today, Ian is part of the cricket commentary team with channel 9 television station.
