In 1994 she won 3 gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in Vancouver, Canada.
She was named world female wimmer of the year in 1994 then had a set-back when returning a positive drug test after the 1995 short course titles in Rio De Janeiro, subsequently this was attributed to a headache tablet. This left her 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games campaign in tatters.
Samantha won the 200 metres at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998.
In February 1999 she will be the face of a 'Shape-Up Australia' campaign to be launched in a national women's magazine.
Samantha is engaged to be married to Johann Koss, a 4 times gold Winter Olympian speed-skater from Norway.
Samantha is coached by Scott Volkers in Brisbane and swims anything between 50 to 80 kilometres a week in training.
