In September 1998, at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Susie broke fellow Aussie swimmer Mike Wenden's record as Australia's most successful Commonwealth Games athlete when she brought home 6 golds.

25 year old Susie married after the games and set her sights on Sydney, 2000.

Susie was named 1998 Sportswoman of the Year, receiving the award from former swimming champ Tracey Wickham.

On 23rd March, 1999, in Brisbane, Susie won her 33rd national title, equalling the record for most titles won of Frank Beaurepaire.

Susie has the same coach as Samantha Riley, Scott Volkers.
