SYDNEY OLYMPIC GAMES 2000

The Athletes' Village
Australia Crest

For the first time in Olympic history the streets of the Olympic Village at Homebush Bay will be named after over 60 outstanding Olympians of the modern Olympic era.

Streets will have names such as Jessie Owens Avenue, Nadia Comaneci Avenue and Muhammed Ali Parade, although in his Olympic hey-day he was known as Cassius Clay.

Many Australians will be so honoured, including Ron Clarke who never won Olympic Gold despite holding 17 world records, Paralympian Louise Sauvage and Madam Butterfly Susie O'Neill.

The Village will accommodate 10,305 competitors as well as some 5,100 officials.
